The Weather

Posted by ks on May 29th, 2008

Glorious one moment, down pour the next. I guess that’s just spring in the midwest!  Today it is just beautiful out and with school ending for most all schools across the country this week it only adds to the itch for summer to arrive.

Remember – get the kids outside and keep them there!  If the weather is nice, it’s best to keep the kids outside. The chances of them engaging in physical activities when outside increase ten-fold. All sorts of games, swimming, tag and even just drawing with chalk on the driveway can keep them busy and burn up that energy we envy more and more as we age.

Enjoy!

Find the right Pediatrician for You

Posted by ks on May 14th, 2008

It’s easier said than done, but when you’re looking for that pediatrician to take care of your little ones, you need to find the right fit. We take on the attitude that our doctors have. If you have a laid back pediatrician, then you will adopt those same traits. Find one that works for you. If you’re comfortable with them and confident in their advice then your kids will be more at ease as well.

Know Your Body

Posted by ks on May 6th, 2008

I’d once read that no food is good or bad necessarily, but that it depends on how the food reacts with your body.
If you’ve noticed, the trends swing from “milk is good for you” to “too much milk is bad for you”; from “eat high-protein, no carb meals” to “eat carbs”; from “no fat” to “low fat” to “good fat”. The studies for these things are based on how select people react to the foods and nutrients react with their body. Too much milk may be harmful to one person, but for someone else it may not cause an issue at all.
Know your body. Know what it needs to best be fueled. Try high-protein shakes and see how they work. Try low-carb options and see how your body reacts. Learn the best things for your body, but monitoring. Give your body the nutrients that it needs. It will tell you. You just need to listen.
