Spend Some Time Planning

If you want to get the most out of your time this summer, you will have to spend a little time preparing for it now. Time management is the key to a fun-filled summer while not losing your mind trying to handle it all.

My family and I like putting huge calendars together and color-coding activities for each of us. We prepare them months in advance and post them so that everyone can clearly see each schedule. It’s incredibly important to communicate to everyone what each member has in store for them so that there are no surprises, and doing so can also help you see where you are overbooked.

There is no better occasion to learn how to manage time and coordinate schedules because plans are always bound to change and new things will pop up. Plan, but remember to be flexible. Figuring out how best to plan for the summer not only maximizes how much you are able to do but also how much you can do with your family.

Choose a Gym with Benefits

Just a quick reminder that when choosing a gym you not only want one that is near you, has great trainers and equipment, clean locker room, class options and a friendly staff, but you may want to note the childcare options as well. If they have a play area for your little one(s) you may be apt to work out and stick to it because they will begin to look forward to the playtime at the gym. Help them to help you and take childcare into consideration when looking at gym benefits.

Time to Swim

While there is some debate over the necessity of swim lessons for little kids, from my experience I have found it to be quite helpful and very important. Though they may not become expert swimmers until their toddler years, it is important to start giving your child swim lessons at earlier ages to help reduce any fears they may have about water and to help them enjoy their time in the pool.

Children love being able to swim together and having you with them every step of the way can make them feel secure and close to you. Swimming can be a fun and safe activity for children, and learning how to swim at an earlier age has actually been proven to help reduce drowning rates.

Swimming together is not only a great bonding experience for you and your child, but it can also help them build confidence and higher self-esteem. As they learn to become better swimmers early on, children become proud of their accomplishments in the water and this confidence can translate to other tasks they come across in the future.

Swim lessons are also a great form of exercise for children. Teaching them the coordination of swimming in earlier years is an excellent way for them to work both their arms and their legs at once and have a fun time doing it!

With summer coming, there is no better time than the present to start giving your children swim lessons. It is a fun summer activity the whole family can enjoy, no matter how young.
