Just like your body, your brain also needs exercise. A study found that older people who received brain training stayed mentally sharp for years afterwards. Dividing into 2 groups, one group received no training, the other group received between 10-18 hours of training for memory, reasoning, or speed thinking. After 5 years, the people who received the brain training had improved cognitive function and were more capable of performing daily activities compared to the control group. Do activities as you get older such as card games, word puzzles, reading or playing an instrument.

Computers and TV Rules

Posted by ks on Sep 7th, 2009

As parents, it is our duty to set guidelines for computers and tv. We do not allow computers in the bedrooms. They are all in public areas of our home and are monitored by parental controls. The televisions also have locks on them so the kids can only watch age appropriate shows. TV viewing is limited to a certain time of day, depending on age. We try to watch the shows with the kids, so we can always see what’s on, and make watching tv a family experience.
